Exciting News About the Torridon Campsite Project!

Hi everyone,
I’ve got some exciting news to share! As many of you know, I’m working for Torridon District Community Association to help put our Community Development Plan into action (you can check out the full plan here).
We’re still exploring what might be possible with Torridon Primary School (I’ll have an update on that in the next couple of weeks), but in the meantime, we’ve also been looking into the idea of taking over Torridon Campsite. The aim would be to make some improvements and turn it into a sustainable source of income that could help fund other community projects—and support the community centre and its facilities too.
With help from the Development Plan Sub-group, I’ve managed to secure £20,000 from the Crown Estate Scotland Fund to take the next step! This funding means we can bring in consultants to do the technical side of a feasibility study, looking at different options for the campsite and public toilets.
The feasibility study will explore how a community-run campsite could work, what the different models look like, and whether it’s something we’d want to take forward. It’ll also include a business plan—which will be key to our decision making and be useful if we go down the funding route later on.
We’ll be advertising for consultants very soon, and I’ll be working alongside members of the Sub-group to pull the whole study and business plan together. There’ll also be chances for you to get involved through community consultation events later in the year—so keep an eye out, we’d love your input!
