Local Hero Awards

Thanks again to everyone who has nominated someone for an award. Two awards were presented this week. Three more to follow over the next couple of weeks.

Many people wanted to say thanks to mobile butcher Allan Morrison for his regular service throughout the pandemic. Whatever the weather throughout this year and last, Allan from Kenneth Morrisons butchers of Gairloch has kept our communities supplied with fresh meat, and much more. Allan was presented with his award on a recent snowy morning. Long may we hear the friendly honk of his horn as he arrives each week :-)

Another popular choice has been one of the driving forces behind Community Out West Trust in Kinlochewe. Along with her colleagues Mary Peart has put in hours of hard work to push forward the redevelopment of the public toilets. But it is for her commitment to keeping them open during the pandemic, for which she is nominated for the award. Covid has required extra cleaning and Mary regularly drives, on a voluntary basis, from her home in Diabaig to Kinlochewe to clean the toilets. She was presented with a box of chocolates and new protective 'Queen of Clean' rubber gloves (complete with diamond ring) for her dedication.

You can read more about the previous awards here https://www.tkcc.scot/news Nominations have now closed but if you have any queries please email councillor5@tkcc.scot Thanks Mat Webster
