Your Local Heros

Thanks again to everyone who has nominated someone for an award. As we take our next steps out of lockdown here is the final bumper edition of local hero awards. First up is Donald Macdonald of Fasaig (pictured here with dog Sally). Neighbours wanted to say thank you to Donald for his help with collecting shopping, carrying out odd jobs and generally being available to help the older residents of Fasaig. His community spirit is exactly what Local Heros was intended to celebrate.Well done Donald, enjoy a well earned beer and slice of pizza on us!

The next award is for the South West Ross Community Car Scheme. Throughout the last 12 months the volunteers have undertaken prescription deliveries, hospital transport and made care calls to elderly residents who live alone. Vital work to help the community get through a difficult year. The scheme covers a larger area than TKCC but we didn't want to draw lines when saying our thank yous, so when all the team are finally able to all meet up, there will be a little something from us to say thank you. Please keep up the good work.

Lastly but by no means least is Torridon Medical Practice. Many people wanted to send a thank you to Caroline, Stewart, Joan, Jo, Emily, locums & the practice nurses for keeping going throughout the pandemic. Perhaps the ultimate key workers, on the front line every day (well most days!), adapting how they run the practice to keep us all safe from Covid; and now with the added pressure of the vaccination clinics. Caroline & Joan are pictured accepting flowers and chocolates, hopefully these will help to express to the team just how appreciated the work of our marvelous NHS is.

That's it for the awards but if you have any queries please email councillor5@tkcc.scot
